Some Truths Every Kid Should Know By the Time they are 18

  1. God created everything.
  2. God loves us and tells us that learning to love others is very important.
  3. God sent his son and through what Jesus Christ did for us we can be righteous and have a personal relationship with him.
  4. There are Cold, Lukewarm and On Fire Christians.  Only the On Fire ones are real.  The Bible is full of information on just what that means.
  5. Respect or Honoring Parents is a Holy thing, not just good manners.
  6. Anything can be an Idol if you hold it as more important than what God says.  Food can be an Idol.  Pride can be an Idol.  TV show/movies can be an Idol.
  7. If you love Jesus you will crave/love preaching and teaching (I know not all preachers and teachers are Christian even in church and some are sooo boring).  But craving to learn and grow is a by product of the Holy Spirit in You!
  8. If you learn to have integrity and be faithful early it will save you a lot of heartache.
  9. The people that tell you it is okay to do something that God is against are not your friend.  God has high standards and cannot abide evil.
  10. A passionate student wanting to learn is a teachers dream.  A passionate Christian student is God’s child.
  11. Happiness is not Joy.
  12. Billy Graham and Charles Spurgeon among others lived lives dedicated to God and there are books you can read about them.  Have good role models and leave Music/Movie Icons to the heathens.
  13. God made us humans with many skin, hair and eye colors and gave us all traits and made us in his likeness.  God is not a tame God.  God is different than us and the power of his words can create life.
  14. It is good to be thankful to God, Parents, Teachers and tell them so.
  15. Sex or rather the misuse of it is one of the biggest easiest sins to fall into.  The Bible gives clear guidelines to how a marriage/family is to be and the responsibilities that go with it for Christians.
  16. With each right comes responsibility.
  17. The more stuff you have the more you have to work to keep it and to keep it up.
  18. God wants us to be people with deliberate consideration of our actions.
  19. Feelings can fool us.  If we control our thoughts our feelings will follow.
  20. Widows and Orphans are special to God and a sure way to do his will is to help someone in need.
  21. Feed a hungry person.  Clothe a needy person.  God values this.  You should too.
  22. Teachers will be held accountable for what we teach.  Be careful what you teach your peers.
  23. Love your neighbors.
  24. Love yourself and God.
  25. Don’t drift, life goes by so very fast as it is, you won’t want to waste any of it.
  26. Enjoy the amazing things God has made.  Sunsets and sunny days along with cool rain and colorful flowers.
  27. If you are a Dad or Mom, be a great one.

Oh What a Wonderful Day!

The creation of the skies…is so amazing that I can see God’s handiwork everyday.  The clouds, sunsets, the way it all works together and the colors that our eyes can see…is like He is shouting out to us…This is Me…Your creator…and I LOVE YOU!

The Way for Me to Live Victoriously through Jesus Christ

12 Therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, put on tender mercies, kindness, humility, meekness, longsuffering; 13 bearing with one another, and forgiving one another, if anyone has a complaint against another; even as Christ forgave you, so you also must do. 14 But above all these things put on love, which is the bond of perfection. 15 And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to which also you were called in one body; and be thankful. 16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom, teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord. 17 And whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him. Colossians 3:12-17

How is it that such rich passages pertaining to daily life of a Christian is not absorbed by so many.  This is one I want to hide in my heart so I won’t sin against God.  And if I follow him in his words I will know love and be love to others.  With the 40 days of Lent my focus has been brought back to God being the center of my day and I love it.

My Heritage.

My heritage in America has been one of Christian songs, going to church, and Christian values at home…not perfect people mind you…but striving to live as God tells us in the Bible.  My maternal grandparents were passionate believers in Jesus Christ and followed him from the time they were a young married couple until their deaths many years later.  My father was not raised with a godly mother and father but did live often with his grandparents who I have heard were Christian.  My father was also a believer and a good father and he tried to do his best to raise us in a Christian home (learning and growing in the Lord) and he believed that even though he wasn’t a minister that he should study the Bible as a Christian businessman.  My grandmother and my father and a Sunday School teacher that I don’t remember her name were my mentors, the ones that prayed for me and loved me and helped me along the way to understand that it is a personal relationship with God that matters but that by our actions we show who our allegience is to.  Our master is either our self or our God.  And self  no matter how you try to make it happy just wants more and happiness is fleeting.  Where the joy in the Lord is something you can access/claim through the good and bad times.  I wish Jesus would come back today and redeem his church.  I’m so ready to leave this earth of the struggle and get on to the new life awaiting in heaven but it seems he has more for us to do here on earth.  Today my prayer is for Him to show me his self and what he wants me to see.

First Day of Spring

One day it is snowing and the next it is sunny and warm.  The spring bulbs are poking up their heads through the dirt and soon the warmth of the sun will encourage the flowers to bloom.  I can smell the earth warming up and praising the Creator, the God that made such complicated processes produce magnificent creations.  Every day I am thankful for all the beauty here where I live.  Spring is like a promise of Summer fun in little bits and pieces here and there.  The Daffodils and Tulips raise their heads to the sky, bowing in the breeze to the Father of us all…the maker of life.

When I was a Child…

My first memory verse as a child was John 3:16.

John 3:16-17 For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through Him.

My Sunday School teachers and my Grandmother Smith had such a lasting influence on my life by teaching me to memorize memory verses.  Wish my brain would work as well as it did then…I may not know where something is found but I know what it means…and who inspired these words.

What was your first memorization…a poem…a verse…a song?  Many kids today memorize lines out of movies…and have no eternal value…can’t wait to encourage my grandkids to memorize.

Veggie season is coming and I bought Non GMO seeds!

Organic food is so expensive and you just never know what you are getting so this year I am hoping to grow some amazing veggies and hope to encourage those around me to eat more good whole food!  Corn on the cob when young and sweet don’t even need butter!  In Oregon on our trip this last weekend I ran across some Non GMO seeds for my gardening.  So excited to try to grow, can and harvest my own seeds this year.  Won’t you join me in eating more veggies? 🙂
