Jessica's lemon pie

My neice made this amazing lemon pie that has a cheesecake middle and is made in the springform pan. She has pledged to make one for the Pregnancy Crisis Center Banquet and Auction and I believe it will bring lots of $$$! I better start saving my pennies! I love that we can all put our talent or what we do together and make a strong group.

Birthdays and Being Gracious

Today is my son’s birthday. I don’t know which one because I’m one of those people that doesn’t keep track of that stuff. I just don’t get why he is so bah humbug about birthdays. Could be because his Dad is that way too…(but has gotten a little nicer about it as he has matured)  Do you know anyone else that hates celebrating his birthday?  I met someone once(my hairdresser at the time) that hated getting gifts for hers.  She said she always thought the gifts were a waste of money and was actually mad because her husband had gotten her a present.  My how we waste our emotions on so many things that don’t go our way.  I love giving gifts and getting gifts but don’t remember what gifts I give or get.  I just love that people have thought “Oh I think Sherry would love this and gets it”.  I think it is so rare that someone knows others well enough to be able to get them what would make their hearts smile.  What was your favorite gift ever?  Mine was when my husband and daughters painted my bedroom and made a video of it like Trading Spaces tv show.

I Am Going To Try This Bread in a Crock Pot. Love Foodie Blogs!

How to Make Gluten Free Bread in Your Crock Pot   One box of gluten-free bread mix  (Follow the directions on the box in terms of ingredients)   Use a large slow cooker if you have one.  Mine is a six quart oval Crock-Pot, but you could make bread in a circle slow cooker also.   Use cooking spray or shortening to grease the inside of your baking pan (not the slow cooker).   Mix the ingredients as specified on box.  Add crumpled aluminum foil or use some canning rings laid on the bottom to create an air space buffer between the bottom of the pan and the slow cooker.  Put your pan with the bread dough into the Crock-Pot, put the lid on, and turn your Crock-Pot to high.   My bread was done in three hours, but different slow cookers cook differently.  I recommend the first couple of times to check your bread at about the two hour mark to estimate when your bread will be done.   This is super easy and I wish I had thought of this sooner.  I plan to  do several blog posts dedicated to baking bread, cakes and many other things in my Crock-Pot.  Enjoy and get to baking that yummy bread in your slow cooker!   XOXO   Amee

Schedule in your Grandma!

Today the girls and I spent the morning at my mom’s home.  We had a wonderful time playing in the dirt as Grace liked to say.  Tomorrow we are going to visit Randy’s mom.  With Mother’s Day coming up it is a good time to start visiting grandma at least once a week and doing something together.  Weed the flower bed, go on a walk, talk about a book you are reading or if you are three like Grace talk about a cartoon that is your favorite. Simple times but the ones I look forward to in my week.  Maybe that is because I too am a Grandma!

Tears and Thankfulness

Today should have been a day to hold new granddaughters as Twins come early usually.  Instead my heart is sad thinking of the daughter that won’t get to hold those sweet precious girls until we meet again in Heaven.  The older I get the more I search the Bible to understand what God wants of us and how we enter that relationship that connects the creator of the world to my soul.  In just a couple of weeks when the due date is here my heart will still feel the loss but they will be safe and happy in the arms of the saviour who loves little children.  I am choosing to be thankful that Hannah and Leah’s first sight was in a perfect world close to God and not in this fractured world where sadness and selfishness reigns.  Someday little ones, grandma will hold you close and love on you and be blessed by your presence.  I love you Hannah.  I love you Leah.  Love, Grandma Lala

Bountiful Baskets and Thanksgiving

This morning my sister, daughter and I drove together over to the next town to pick up our Bountiful baskets of fruit and veggies.  The cost is only $16.50 and well worth that and more.  My daily struggle to eat healthy food instead of the sugar filled, fatty fried food is such a habit and addiction.  Today I am going to be thankful for the amazing assortment of veggies and fruits that we have access to.  We are looking for ideas on what to do with a jicama.  Next week I’d like to take a picture to show the bounty of goodness.  I am so very thankful and give praise to our Father in heaven that has provided such an assortment and all that we need.  Tonight as we go to a going away party and I take something healthy to eat I’m going to give thanks to the creator of all.
