Children choose Joy

As long as it isn’t immoral or illegal as a grandmother I choose to let my grandchildren experience joy in messy ways.  Our grandson had the best time ever sitting in this big puddle and as a mom I probably wouldn’t have let him get in it.  Of course I thought he was only going to wade in it and he had shorts on but he plopped himself down to sit in the middle of it.  How often do adults by pass the joy of a situation like wading in a  puddle or going outside to watch a rainbow or sunset?  I’m trying to notice and enjoy these God given blessings.

Joy of a Grandmother bridges race/culture and language barriers.

Why are we so afraid of change or people from another race or culture?  The other grandma may not know your language but you all know how to love a baby and your children.  To share this joy even though your culture may not be comfortable with people of another language/culture/race is a choice and one that we have enjoyed and would recommend.  The one thing I would not change would be people of like faith in a marriage can build a strong foundation for their family.  This gracious African woman, the mother of our wonderful son in law, father of our grandchildren is a lovely soul and a loving Christian woman.  I choose Joy in our relationship.

Sunday Dinner

Sunday dinner is Family Time!

Sunday Dinner is the time you spend with your loved ones eating the comfort food passed down from your mom and grandmothers.

This Lemon Cheesecake Pie is a new recipe that my fabulous niece Jessica makes.  When she brings it to pot lucks I only want to eat its lemony goodness….Is that wrong? 😉

Some of my favorite Sunday dinners are:

Pot roast with mashed potatoes and gravy!

Fried Chicken with mashed potatoes and gravy!

Meatloaf with Garlic Mashed Potatoes!

Good thing we live in Idaho and have the BEST Mashed Potatoes!

What is your favorite family dinner?

Joy in a song!

I’ve Got the Joy In My Heart

I’ve got the joy, joy, joy, joy down in my heart
Where?
Down in my heart!
Where?
Down in my heart!
I’ve got the joy, joy, joy, joy down in my heart
Down in my heart to stay
And I’m so happy
So very happy
I’ve got the love of Jesus in my heart
Down in my heart
And I’m so happy
So very happy
I’ve got the love of Jesus in my heart.
I’ve got the love of Jesus, love of Jesus
Down in my heart
Where?
Down in my heart!
Where?
Down in my heart!
I’ve got the love of Jesus, love of Jesus
Down in my heart
Where?
Down in my heart to stay.
And I’m so happy
So very happy
I’ve got the love of Jesus in my heart
Down in my heart
And I’m so happy
So very happy
I’ve got the love of Jesus in my heart.
I’ve got the peace that passes understanding
Way down in the depths of my heart!
Where?
Down in the depths of my heart!
Where?
Down in the depths of my heart!
I’ve got the peace that passes understanding
Way down in the depths of my heart!
Down in my heart to stay
And I’m so happy
So very happy
I’ve got the love of Jesus in my heart
Down in my heart
And I’m so happy
So very happy
I’ve got the love of Jesus in my heart.
And if the Devil doesn’t like it
He can sit on a tack!
Ouch!
Sit on a tack!
Ouch!
Sit on a tack!
And if the Devil doesn’t like it
He can sit on a tack!
Ouch!
Sit on a tack to stay!
And I’m so happy
So very happy
I’ve got the love of Jesus in my heart
Down in my heart
And I’m so happy
So very happy
I’ve got the love of Jesus in my heart.

I don’t know the author of this song but we always sang it with our grandmother and in Sunday School and on road trips.  We thought it pretty naughty to say Devil and sit on a tack!
